Since 1977, Engineering Geology has been taught “in the Moye tradition” as subjects within both the geology and civil engineering undergraduate courses at the University of South Australia.

In 1978 the D.G. Moye Memorial Prize Fund was set up, and since then, cash prizes have been awarded annually to the students who achieved the best and sufficiently high results in these subjects. The value of each prize is now $500.

Contributors to the Fund were:

  • Applied Geology Staff (earnings from consulting work)
  • Mr Peter Moye
  • The Institution of Engineers, Australia
  • Australia and New Zealand Banking Limited
  • Sir Ian McLennan
  • The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited
  • Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation
