Rock mechanics in the investigation and construction of Tumut 1 Underground Power Station, Snowy Mountains, Australia

It is evident that systematic rock bolting has a wide field of application for the support of strong jointed rock around large underground openings. It provides a means of overcoming in part the disruptive influence of jointing and thereby making use of part of the high strength inherent in the rock itself.
